Dr. Kamaluddin Ahmed is an eminent researcher and critic in Modern Assamese Literature. He is credited with 13 books. He did his PhD on Modern Assamese Poetry, 2005) His books on criticism include Adhunik Asomiya Kobita (2005, Enlarged Edition 2015), Sahityar Abhibyakti (2014), Ramanyasbad aru Lakshminath Bezbaroar Kobita (2015). His book Adhunik Asomiya Kobita is regarded as seminal work in the field of research and criticism in Modern Assamese Poetry. His contribution towards Asomiya Sahityar Buranji, Vol. VI (enlarged edition 2012) edited by Homen Borgohain is regarded painstaking and marvelous work. He has also written a book namely Karbi: Bishad aru Rong (2002) on sociocultural life of the Karbis. He has edited two books namely Asamiya Kobitar Tinita Stor (Jointly edited with Prof. Malinee Goswami, 2009) and Adhunik Asamiya Sahityra Oitihya aru Lakshminath Bezbaroa (Jointly edited with Prof Taranee Deka, 2013). He has been acting as Member of Assamese Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi for the term 2012-2015. He was also a member of Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language Art & Culture (ABILAC), Guwahati-Assam
 
 
Besides these books he has published a good number of Research Articles/ Papers in various National journals including journals in regional language i.e. Assamese. He has participated in various National and International Seminars/Conferences including International Conference on Forum for Contemporary Theory. He joined as lecturer at Gauhati University in the Department of Assamese in 2003. Prior to this assignment he had been at Diphu Government College for more than a decade. He has been awarded Benuchiring Memorial award for criticism by All Assam Poets' Association in 2015 for his book Adhunk Asomiya Kobita.
 
Kamaluddin Ahmed is also a subtle and distinctive voice in Modern Assamese Poetry.
He has represented Assamese Poetry at the national and international level for many decades now including South Asia Literature Festival 2018, All India Radio Poetry Conference, Indian Poetry Festival organized by the Sahitya Akademi,New Delhi. His poems have been translated into all recognized Indian languages, besides English and French. His poetry collections include Duchakut Gachar Bhar Barisa 1996, Dhonwar Majar Charaito 2001, Barasun:Romantic aru anti-romantic 2008 and Sukreswarat Phool Kinote 2014. His latest poetry collection is a significant contribution to Twenty-first Century Modern Assamese Poetry.
 
Now, he is active in writing criticism of selected Assamese Poetry and Fiction as well as translating poetry from English, Bengali to Assamese.
