Dr. Jayanta Krishna Sarmah is currently Professor in Political Science at Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India. A Rotary Peace Fellow in the Rotary International Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (2012) and UGC-Raman Post-doctoral fellow in the University of Texas at Austin, USA (2014-15), Sarmah has published research papers in national and international journals of repute. He also authored a number of books that include Welfare Administration in Assam (2012) and The Autonomy Paradox: Interrogation of Autonomy Movement and Autonomous Councils in Assam (2014) and also edited a few journals. He has been undertaking different research projects and the policy recommendations are well appreciated. An eminent poet, columnist and a popular speaker Professor Sarmah delivered lectures and presented papers in National and International Conferences including International Political Science Association Conference, Madrid, Spain (2012), International Africa Conference UT Austin, TX, USA (2015), Midwest Public Affairs Conference, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA (2015), World Conference of Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology, Colorado, USA (2016), Rotary International Peace Assembly and Presidential Peace Conference, Atlanta, USA (2017), Visiting fellow address at Huston-Tillotson University, TX, USA (2017) among others.
