Dwipen Bezbaruah is a Professor in the department of Anthropology, Gauhati University. He has experience of six years of research as UGC JRF/SRF in the department of Anthropology,GU and about twenty one  years of teaching at the Post Graduate level. Prior to joining Gauhati University he also served as a faculty member in the department of Anthropology,Dibrugarh University. His area of teaching and research are archaeological anthropology with focus on ethnoarchaeology, rock art studies and ethnic issues. Nine candidates including three UGC-JRF have successfully completed Ph.D. programme under his supervision while two  others are at the final stage of submitting their Ph.D dissertation. He has paticipated and presented  papers in several national and international level seminars and conferences. He has also  been invited to deliver lectures and chair sessions in several national and international level seminars and symposia,meetings and workshops. He has more than fifty publications in international and national level journals and book chapters besides two edited books. He served as the Head, Department of Anthropology, Gauhati University (2019-22) and also Dean,Faculty of Scoence, Gauhati University. He also  successfully completed his duty as as the  Coordinator, SAP-DRS I of the department of Anthropology and three phased major research project on multidisciplinary studies on  Rock Art and allied subjects in NE India funded by IGNCA, New Delhi,GU He is a life member of Indian National Confederation of Academy of Anthropologists and served as member Prgramme Advisory Committee of Rock Art Unit of IGNCA,New Delhi. He is also the coordinator for the North East of the project Rock Art and allied subjects in NE India sponsored by IGNCA,New Delhi. He was also member drafting committee constituted for scheduling the Moran Community by the Govt of Assam. He has been associated with the academic bodies of several institutions of higher learning like University of calcutta, Delhi University, North Bengal Univesity, North East Hills University, Dibrugarh University Rajiv Gandhi University, IGNCA, New Delhi etc. . He was also a member of the visiting team led by Vice Chancellor,GU on an academic exchange and collaboration programme with the institutions of higher learning of United Kingdom.

                Apart from the academic responsibilities he has also served the domain of  acdemic and social life in different ways. Besides serving as the member of GU, Court currently he is serving as the elected member of the Gauhati University Executive Council for two consecutive terms (2020-26). He served as GU nominated member in the Governing bodies of Koliabor College,Nagaon and BKB College, Puranigudam,Nagaon, Pragjyotish College, Guwahati and Saraighat College,  He served as member of Consultative Committee on examination matters,GU and member ,GB of GU model school, Primary section. He was also the Joint Secretary of Gauhati University Teachers Association namely GUTA for the session 2007-08 and General Secretary for the sessions 2012-13 and 2013-14 and the Vice President  for the sessions (2018-20).
