Dr. Smita Devi Bora is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Gauahati University since December 19, 2017 till date. She is BSc (Anthropology) from Cotton College with 1st class and 2nd Position in 2008, MSc from the Department of Anthropology, Gauhati University with 1st class and 2nd position in 2010. She qualified the UGC NET JRF examination in of June, 2012 and joined in the Deptt. of Anthropology, Gauhati University as a full time research schloar. She was awarded Ph.D. degree in Anthropology by Gauhati University in the year 2017 for her thesis “Geocultural context of the prehistoric sites of West Garo Hills, Meghalaya” under the guideship of Professor Dwipen Bezbaruah, Deptt. of Anthropology and Dr. Sarat Phukan, Deptt. of Geological Sciences.

8. Participated in the exploration at Habang and adjoining areas in Karbi Anglong district, Assam for 10 days from 06/02/2015 to 12/02/2015 and excavation at Dekhdowa in Goalpara district for 7 days from 05/01/2017 to 11/01/2017 conducted by the Directorate of ArchaeologyAssam, Ambari, Guwahati.
