Served in the Gauhati University as a full time faculty member since 2006 in the Department of Communication & Journalism. Dr. Goswami was Head in-charge from May 2011 to January,2016 of this department. Also served this department as Guest faculty from 2000 to 2006 and worked as the bridge in the tough time of the dept.
Prior to the Gauhati university, Goswami was a Lecturer in Linguistics and later HOD of the dept in Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College (then City College), Guwahati. Goswami also served in the Anandoram Barooah Institute of Language Art and Culture (ABILAC), Guwahati as Asst. Editor for a Dictionary project 'Samagrik Asomiya Sabdakosh' for about three years.
Goswami was initially started his research on the Speech Signal processing with reference to spectral analysis of Bodo and Assamese phonemes. Later he shifted his research interest to Community media and journalism and obtained his Ph.D. in this area from Gauhati University. Rural Communication and language communication is another area of interest, where he did fieldwork with students as part of the MA course for several batches.
Associated with various socio cultural and communication related organizations, Goswami served as Jt. Secretary of Gauhati Cine Club (GCC) for more than two terms. He has also experience in conducting the film festival and film appreciation course as coordinator in the GCC. Also coordinating the GU venue for various film festival incuding GCC, Cine Asha world film festival for several years. Goswami also a speaker in various programmes conducted by Public Relations Society of India, Guwahati Chapter. Goswami is an active member in various festival and rituals, religious activities, social cause in Guwahati.
